Sarah Silverman apologises to Paris Hilton for prison jokes


Joke artist Sarah Silverman has apologized to Paris Hilton for jokes she told at the MTV Movie Awards in 2007 about the socialite's impending jail stretch.

The honors were gone to by Hilton only hours before she was imprisoned for disregarding probation on a liquor related beverage driving conviction.

"I said some exceptionally bad-to-the-bone jokes regarding her.... Paris, I am truly heartbroken," Silverman said.

Hilton reacted by saying she was "stunned... also, wonderfully astonished".

She added: "[Silverman] was so real thus sweet and it truly moved me. I felt enthusiastic hearing it and I could tell she truly implied what she said when she was saying 'sorry'

"Much obliged to you, I super appreciate you doing that."

She was then held under house capture for 20 days and needed to wear an electronic tag for 40 days. Her capture was for driving impaired, for which she was given probation. She had disregarded a few times by driving with a suspended permit.

The socialite was imprisoned at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, California, where her legal counselor said she went through 23 hours per day in a singular cell.

Silverman was disheartened when Hilton said on her digital recording she didn't get the letter.

"So here I am, after 14 years, revealing to you Paris that I am truly heartbroken. I was at that point and I am significantly more totally and with undeniably really seeing at this point."
